Jabez Harger, a Huguenot was in Stratford, Conn. before 1662. He married Margaret daughter of Henry and Alice Tomlinson of Stratford Nov. 5-1662. He was given a home lot which was recorded June 3-1669. He purchased land in Derby, Conn. where he settled a few years later, being one of the first settlers at the "North End." His first residence, according to Hist. of Derby, was located east of Edward Rigg's on Sentinel Hill. Jabez Harger died in 1678 his wife Margaret Mar. 17-1698. Their eldest son Samuel was born Sept. 29-1663 and married Hannah Stiles May 9-1693, of Stratford, and died about 1699. His widow (Samuel's) married John Tibbals, Mar. 28-1700. 573
