Edward Collins was christened 25 March 1603 in Bramford, Suffolk, England. He was brought up by godly parents and when his father died, Edward was placed in a gentleman's house. He married Martha Baylie, the daughter of Francis Baylie on 20 November 1628 in the town of Framlingham, Suffolk, England. After the birth of three of their children, the family emigrated to New England as early as 1636, settling first at Cambridge. In later years, Edward and Martha resided in Charlestown on Craddock's Plantation which became the town of Medford. Edward died on 9 April 1689 in Charlestown. His widow Martha lived until 22 March 1699/1700 remaining a resident of Charlestown.428

C. 1649; Samuel, liv. in Scotland for some yrs.; and Sibyl, w. of Rev. John Whiting, all b. in Eng.; beside these, Martha, b. Sept. 1639; Nathaniel, 7 Mar. 1643, H. C. 1660; Abigail, 20 Sept. 1644; and Edward, 1646, all bapt. here. Abigail m. prob. in 1663, John Willet, s. of capt. Thomas, wh. a. 2 Feb. 1664; and Martha, it is thot. m. Rev. Joshua Moody.
