George Sisson was born either in England or Portsmouth, RI. He was admitted as a freeman at Portsmouth, RI, on November 28, 1673. On April 7, 1677, he traded property in Portsmouth for 3/8 share of property in Dartmouth, Mass. On May 19, 1683, he sold 1/4 share of property in Dartmouth to Isaac Lawton, for 100 pounds. He became administrator of his bother John's estate on June 24, 1689. He was a farmer, a constable in 1687, served on a Gran Jury in 1688, was a deputy to the colonial assembly in 1690, 1702, 1705 & 1707 and was a Justice of the Pease in 1703. His estate was valued at 441/18/8, clothes 8/11, armor 2//, plate 8/12/2, silver 13/12/6, credit 69/8/6, plus stock, furnishings, etc. His will named son Richard executor and gave 97 acres plus land in Warwick to George, land at Newport to John, land at Tiverton in exchange for 70// to be divided between his sisters and granddaughter Jane, remaining lands, etc., in Portsmouth, except graveyard, servant & wife to James grindstone to Richard and James, moveables and money to daughters and granddaughter Sarah Clarke. Norman Sisson says George was a representative to the Colonial Assembly, 1690-1707, and Justice of the Peace.

The Sisson Newsletter, v 6 #3 p 17, quotes Mary Jo Sisson: "Mintwater Brook" George Sisson (second generation) was granted land on the East Main Road (Portsmouth, Rhode Island) where standing to this day (1976) is the old Sisson house, referred to as 'the Richard Sisson house.' The original Richard Sisson, who early settled at Mintwater Brook." According to a letter from Dorothy Dey reprinted in the Sisson Newsletter, v.2 no.2, Charles Edward Banks, in his Topical Dictionary of 2885 English Emigrants to New England, 1620 to 1650, "George Sisson came from Burton, Latimer parish, in Northamptonshire, England, clear up on the Scottish border...."
