letter received 3/4/98 from Gail MaGregor who i believe was uncle Tom's step-daughter(daughter of Doroty). I quote it in full: "Dear Lyman, I am writing to you since yours is the most certain address I have in hand... Sad news to report: your uncle Tom passed away on the 25th of February at the age of 98. He had always hoped to see his 100th birthday, but a series of small strokes, a week in the hospital with pneumomia during the ice storm and two-week power outage, followed by a case of the fly -- weakened him too much. He was alert to the end and well cared for by a team of home health care specialists. His wish to be cremated has been carried out -- an urn with his remains will be buried in the Denmark cemetary where both of his wives now lie -- but not until spring when the ground has thawed. There will be a memorial service at that time. Please pass this news along to Tom's brothers and other relatives. We were sorry to hear of you own father's death not so many months ago. Our best wishes to you. Gail MaGregor (& Alex) Gail's address is 6822 N. Lakewood Ave., Chicago, IL 60626 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
