He resided in Sherwell, Wiltshire, England 1616. He resided in Amesbury, Wiltshire, England 1670. Richard was a "dissenting clergyman" of the Church of England and because of his public stance, was forced to flee to France in 1635. His son, Alexander was already in Leyden, Holland and son William embarked to America in the spring of the following year. Five years later, in 1640, Richard returned to England where he began preaching and publishing his veiws. His best work was done in 1642, entitled Experience, History, and Divinity He is found in at least two other locations prior to his return to Amesbury, where he remarried and spent the remainder of his life.22
