In the Rochester Proprietor's Records from a copy made by Noah Hammond in 1882, Samuel Briggs' name appears in the list of residents of Sandwich who were at the first meeting of the purchasers of Sippican. (This deed established John Briggs of Rochester, whose birth is recorded in the Sandwich Vital Records, as the son of Samuel Briggs, Sr., of Rochester).
