Hezekiah son of Joseph Jr. and Elizabeth (Durand) Johnson married Rebecca daughter of Abraham and Lydia (Humiston) Tuttle of New Haven, Ct. Dec. 12-1784. (Note: This is according to the record in the Tuttle Genealogy and also "Seymour Past and Present." On the Derby Town Records, he is married on the same date to Rebecca Jordon.) She was born in New Haven, Feb. 15-1753. He (Hezekiah) Resided in the house where Henrietta Hitchcock lives in Seymour (1902). He died in Woodbridge, Ct. Nov. 15-1826, Rebecca his wife died in Derby May 1-1830. Their children were: Daniel born and died Dec. 6-1785, Elizabeth born Nov. 26-1786 (married Bela Northrop Nov. 2-1805), Newell born May 22-1789.

(Conn. Men in the Rev. pp. 8.) Revolutionary service of Hezekiah Johnson. "Lexington Alarm List from the Town of Derby, Jabez Thompson, Major. Nathaniel Johnson, Capt. John Humphreys, Sergt. Private Hezekiah Johnson. 2 days in service."

(pp. 407.) "Fifth Battalion raised June 1776 to reinforce Washington's army at New York and at battle of Kips Bay, Aug. 29-30, and White Plains Oct. 28. Term expired Dec. 25-1776. 1st Co. Capt. Nathaniel Johnson, 1st Lieut. Nathan Pierson, Privates Gideon and Hezekiah Johnson, Derby, Conn."

Hezekiah Johnson upheld the traditions of his family as a loyal citizen and one of those foremost in the up building of the town. He assisted in the support of the school and helped pay for the bridge built in 1783 over the Naugatuck River near Rimmon Falls. He died Nov. 15-1826 ae 77 and was buried in Rimmon burying ground. (Hist. of Seymour pp. 129.)

Newell son of Hezekiah and Rebecca (Tuttle) Johnson, married Esther daughter of Elias and Content (Baldwin) Carrington of Milford, Sept. 2-1810. He died in Westville, Conn. on June 11-1879 ae 91. His wife died Mar. 9-1866 in Westville. They removed from Humphreysville (Seymour) to Westville in 1833.

Abraham Tuttle son of Caleb, was born Feb. 16-1722. bapt. Mar. 4-1723, married Jan. 22-1741 Lydia Humiston. In 1799 administration given to son Richard. (Tuttle Gen. pp. 135-136-176-177.) Rebecca daughter of Abraham was born Feb. 15-1753 died May 1-1830 ae. 78, married Dec. 12-1784 Hezekiah Johnson, who died Nov. 15-1826 ae 77. (It is also recorded on the Land Records of Derby Hezekiah Johnson and Rebecca Jordon married Dec. 12-1784, so she may have been a widow.) 573
