Joseph Jr. son of Joseph and Margaret (Harger) Johnson married Elizabeth daughter of Dr. John Durand, Aug. 9-1738. She was born Feb. 6-1719. He resided in the house where Deacon Edwin Lum now lives on Pearl St. Seymour. (1902.) Joseph Jr. died Mar. 10-1792 in Derby. Elizabeth died July 5-1786 in Derby. He was as public-spirited as his for-bears and in 1769 we find record of Joseph Johnson Jr. giving land for a school in what is now Seymour. Also in 1783 when the Falls Bridge was built, the money raised by the sale of Lottery tickets, as was the custom of the time, Joseph Johnson Jr. and his son Hezekiah held shares. 88 tickets were sold amongst 33 persons.
The children of Joseph Jr. and Elizabeth (Durand) Johnson were: Asahel born Aug. 15-1739, Elisha born Apr. 10-1741, Eliphalet born Aug. 22-1743, Jeremiah born Dec. 29-1745, Hezekiah born Nov. 6-1749, Margaret born Dec. 7-1750 died Feb. 10-1751, Joseph born Sept. 6-1752, Elizabeth born Mar. 14-1753 married Jehiel Hine. Margaret born June 16-1756.
